Our Story

black owned business, women owned business founder Paulette Bonneur and her two children Harper and Hunter. Children's book author of diverse children's books

We are a dynamic mother-daughter duo of authors who want to help increase diversity in children's books through our experiences. Friday March 27, 2020 was the first official day of the stay at home order in Minnesota. It was also my birthday. I was 8 months pregnant, scared of the unknown, and had no idea of what was to come. The birth of my son Hunter was a welcome distraction from the coronavirus pandemic. Seriously, who doesn’t love baby snuggles & squeezable cheeks?!

Since I was on maternity leave and looking something that my then 3-year-old daughter Harper and I could do together as well as follow in my mom’s entrepreneurial footsteps an unshakable idea came to me. That’s when our business Harper and Hunter LLC was born and we published our first book Everybody Love Your Body. With her brother growing inside me Harper had lots of questions that lead us to dive deeper into our bodies, the differences and accepting others as they are. It’s an amazing easy read about loving who you are and the skin you're in that was sparked by Harper's infamous “naked song”.

We didn’t know it at the time, but that book was just the beginning of our journey. Now, we have published a second book, Everybody Let's Get Cookin' and a coloring & activity books that accompany each. Our dreams of sharing our stories to encourage others has also given us a platform to give back to our community. Our first fundraiser for the Children’s Minnesota NICU gave us the opportunity to gift 50 families with books & more! My husband is a United States Marine Corp. Veteran so when we hosted our second fundraiser, we made sure to support military families as well as food insecurity in Minnesota and on a national level.

We also sell beautiful handmade hair bows. Harper took forever to grow hair so she always had a beautiful bow to match each outfit. It was her signature! Our “For Purpose, on Purpose” small mommy-and-me business has made us so proud. We know life gets tough but we are turning our mess into our message and doing it scared while inspiring others to do the same no matter how old they are. This is only the beginning!
